How long does it take?
Article requests can take 2-4 days to fulfill depending on the type of article. Please keep in mind that articles that are very old or very new can take longer to get. Sometimes, articles from certain academic journals and/or are less than a year old are subject to a publishing embargo, meaning that they are not able to be shared via ILL.
How do I get my article?
You will get an email once your article is available. Follow the directions in the email to gain access to the article. Please note that any electronically received articles will disappear from your account after 30 days. Be sure to save or print your articles before the 30 day time limit.
Please check the Cleveland Clinic Alumni Library catalog and online databases before submitting an ILL request. We may already own the item that you are looking for, and it can save you the time and effort of submitting a request by going through the databases first.
If a book is not available in our collection, and not available through OhioLINK, then we can request it through Interlibrary Loan. These books have stricter rules, as we want to keep a good relationship with other libraries across the country who are generous enough to lend their books to us.
Where can I pick up my ILL book?
When requesting a book via ILL, please note that you will have to pick the book up from the Main Campus library. If you cannot commit to this, you can always request a few chapters from the book you want and we should be able to fulfill your request.
Can you renew books?
Yes, you can request to renew your loan by emailing ILL@ccf.org. Renewals are not guaranteed, as they are approved at the discretion of the lending library.
How long can I check an ILL book out?
Usually, books can be taken out for 3-4 weeks, but it could be longer depending on the lending library's ILL policies. You will be given your due date when you pick up the book (see above for renewal information). If you have questions about this, you can email ILL@ccf.org.

Oftentimes, ILL books come with a paper strip or sticker attached to them, please try to keep these attached to the book as they help us identify where the book needs to be shipped back to once it is returned.
