Goldblatt Medical Library - Florida: Goldblatt Rules

Purpose of the Goldblatt Medical Library

The Goldblatt Medical Library shall provide library and information services to Cleveland Clinic Florida in a timely manner to meet the clinical, educational, research-related, and outreach needs of all Cleveland Clinic Florida Caregivers. 


The following services should be available through the hospital library:

  • Access to the collection during regular business hours (see below)
  • Access to the online resources 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Computer workstations for use by Caregivers
  • Access to knowledge-based databases to respond to requests for information
  • Knowledge-based information service
  • Document delivery and interlibrary loan using DOCLINE
  • Access to electronic regional and national networks, through the Internet
  • Current e-book and e-journal collections
  • Access to patient education and information resources
  • Photocopy/scanning facilities
  • User orientation and education
  • Participation on hospital committees

    1. All books in the library are for reference purposes only and are non-circulating. They shall not leave the library without strict permission from the librarian.
      1. You are free to scan portions of books as needed.
        1. Users are responsible for complying with the U.S. Copyright Act while photocopying library documents.
    2. Please keep personal belongings off the floor and utilize the cubbies.
      1. Do not leave personal belongings unattended.
      2. The librarian is not responsible for the safety of your personal belongings
    3. Please clean your space before and after each use with the provided cleaning supplies (disinfectant wipes and gloves are available).
    4. Library office supplies: paper, staplers, pens, etc. are not to leave the library.

Due to COVID-19, please be courteous and limit your time on the computers. Others may need to use the computers as well.

    1. All users are to remain 6 feet apart.
    2. Seats are limited to 12 users at a time.
    3. Do not use the computers covered with signs.
    4. Masks must be worn at all times while in the library.
    5. Please clean your space before and after each use with the provided cleaning supplies (disinfectant wipes and gloves are available).
    6. Keep your face covered as much as possible while sipping on your drinks.

      1. Meals of any kind
        1. sandwiches
        2. open containers of food
        3. Pizza

  2. HOURS
    1. The physical library, its computers, books, and scanner/printer are accessible Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It will remain closed weekends and holidays.
      1. The library will be monitored by camera afterhours.
    2. The library’s online resources are available 24/7 anywhere on and off campus.

    3. The librarian is available for consultations, both in person and virtually, from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    1. Printing
      1. Print files in black and white.
      2. Print 2 sided.
      3. Please keep printing to a minimum.
      4. Do not print patient records.
    2. Scanning & Copying
      1. Email scanned/ copied documents to your Cleveland Clinic email.
      2. Limit your scanning/ copying to SINGLE copies of library materials.
      3. All printing, copying, and scanning are subject to U.S. Copyright Law.
    1. Users are to save personal documents onto their assigned Iron Key or on the H and S drives.
    2. Please clean your workstation before and after use with the appropriate cleaning supplies (disinfectant wipes and gloves are available).
    3. Users are free to read, write, study, and use personal laptops in the provided open table spaces.
      1. Due to COVID, these spaces may be limited.
    4. Please be courteous and limit your time on the computers and in the library since space is limited and others may need to use the computers as well.
      1. Once busy days reduce computer use to one hour. 
      2. Do not leave belongings at computer as a means to reserve it all day.
