How to get a Library Account

  • ​Library staff will email Library Account information to each student.

How to use the library off-campus

Library Account is required to use library resources off-campus

How to use the library off-campus

  • Go to Civics Initiatives Subject Guide and select resource you want to use.
  • Login screen pops up asking for your last name, employee ID, and password.
  • After typing this information, you are taken to the resource.

How to get articles in PubMed

  1. Type your keywords in the PubMed search box on the Civics Initiatives home page.
  2. Click the title of an article to check its availability.
  3. Every article will show  
    1. Click the button to see if the article is available online. List of providers displays if available. 
    2. If the article is not available online, select another article.
    3. Interlibrary loan (requesting articles from outside libraries) is not available due to time and budget limits.

How to get articles in CINAHL

  1. Go to CINAHL by clicking the link on the Civics Initiatives Subject Guide.
  2. Enter your search terms.
  3. Every article will show Get Article.  Click link to see if article is available online.
    1. If not available online, select another article. 
    2. Interlibrary loan (requesting articles from outside libraries) is not available due to time and budget limits.
  4. Some articles will show PDF Full Text.  Click link to get the article.

How to Find Journals or Ebooks using Full Text Finder

  1. Click the Full Text Finder button on the library's home page.
  2. Start typing the ejournal or ebook title in the box.
  3. Select the title from the drop down menu.
  4. Title abbreviations: many abbreviations don't work!
  5. If the abbreviation doesn't display, type the complete or partial titles instead.  

How to read search results

How to Read Search Results in Full Text Finder

1. Journal name appears in bold black letters.
2. Location of Cleveland Clinic Journal Shelves = print journal physically located in the Library.
3.  Online journals listed alphabetically by provider if available from several providers.
4.  Coverage years listed after the provider.
  Example: 1983 to present = journal available from 1983 to the current issue.
5.  Embargo = journal NOT available during the embargo period.
  Example: 1998 to present Embargo: (1 year) = journal available from 1998 to 1 year ago.  Not available for the past 12 months.
