Borrowing Items from Main Campus, Fairview, Hillcrest, and South Pointe

Libraries resume lending to Cleveland Clinic Caregivers.  

Which items can I borrow?  Search the Library Catalog.  If item's status = AVAILABLE, you can borrow it from Main Campus, Fairview, Hillcrest, or South Pointe.

How can I borrow an item?

  1. Go to the Library Catalog, find the item you want to borrow, click the item's title. 
  2. Place a hold by clicking Request This Item. Must have a Library Account and password/PIN
    • Select the hospital where you will pick up the item -Main, Fairview, Hillcrest, or South Pointe
    • Library staff will email you when it is ready to arrange a pick-up time. 

How do I arrange pick-up? Pick-ups vary by location. 

  1. Main Campus: call 216-444-5697. Pick-up times are 9am - 5pm, Monday through Friday.
  2. Fairview:  call Irene Szentkiralyi 216-476-7117, Mon-Thur, 8:30am-4:30pm.
  3. Hillcrest: call Mary Miles 440-312-3250, Tues, Wed & Thurs, 9am-5pm.
  4. South Pointe: call Lachelle Bell 216-491-7456, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm.

Where can I return items? 

  1. Main Campus' book drop is located outside the library next to the time clock.  
  2. Fairview and Hillcrest book drops are located outside of the library. 
  3. South Pointe caregivers may return the book inside the library.

How quickly are items checked in and removed from my Library Account?

  1. Main Campus: items are checked in daily, M-F.
  2. Fairview: items are checked in on Mon-Thurs.
  3. Hillcrest: items are checked in on Tues, Wed, & Thurs.
  4. South Pointe: items are checked in daily, M-F.

 

Borrowing Procedures

Borrowing Basics 

  • Register for a Library Account & create a password/PIN
  • Borrowing period = 3 weeks
  • Renewals = 4 renewals as long as there are no holds
  • Maximum number of items checked out at one time = 10
  • Items can be borrowed from all Cleveland Clinic libraries: Main Campus, Fairview, Hillcrest, and South Pointe.
  • Must pick up and return items at one of the Cleveland Clinic libraries in person.  Cannot send/return via interoffice mail.

How to Create a Password/PIN

  • Click Login to Library Account
  • Type your name
  • Type your employee #.  No U in front of employee #
  • Click Go!
  • Type password.  Must have both letters & numbers
  • Retype password to verify
  • Click Go!
  • Screen now displays your registration information & any items you have borrowed

How to Reset Password/PIN

Overdue Notices

Items were automatically renewed for Regional Caregivers March 17-June 14.

  • Courtesy/overdue notices: emailed for materials borrowed from Cleveland Clinic libraries.
  • Bills: mailed to your home address for long overdue items.
  • Check your Library Account to see materials you have borrowed and their due dates.  
  • Recommend setting reminders in your phone to renew items before their due date. 
  • The library is not responsible if notices are late or not received.

Fines and Fees

Fines were automatically waived for Regional caregivers from March 17-June 14. 

Fines: pay with credit card.  Login to Library Account, click link to pay fines online, and follow instructions.

Fines - 21 day loans $.50/day
Special loan periods $1.00/day
Recalled items $2.00/day
Bills - long overdue 21-day loans Replacement cost or $75 + 15.  If returned, cost = fines accrued.
Bills - long overdue special loan periods Replacement cost or $350 + $15.  If returned, cost = fines accrued.
Damaged items Details to be discussed with Library Staff.

Blocking Library Privileges

  • Borrowing library materials and using library resources off-campus are BLOCKED when fines are $10 or more.
  • Fines must be paid in full to unblock your account.
